About the campsite
Norrsken Lodge is located in Övertorneå, one of the northernmost campsites in Sweden. The couple who run the campsite are at least as interesting as the campsite itself. Max and Yasmine Hensler moved with their two children from Switzerland in 2017 with a vision to create a place for people to meet and have a natural experience out of the ordinary. Max and Yasmine want to divide Norrsken Lodge into two different parts - Summer Camping and Winter Camping. This is because there is so much to do, while the landscape is so different depending on the season.
Norrsken Lodge offers cottages as well as camping sites and tent pitches. The entire facility is of a high standard and the couple works hard to meet the high standards of guests from all over the world. In total, there are 12 different cabins to book. Norrsken Lodge also has over 60 camping pitches and several lovely tented areas to offer its guests.
The campsite has a fully licensed restaurant serving fantastic food. During the winter months, in the same building as the reception, there is also a relaxation area that used to be an old prison. Here you can sit in front of the open fire and at the same time listen to fantastic stories from the past. The expression "if walls could talk" really has a meaning here.
Norrsken Lodge really offers something for all ages. Right next to the campsite you will find a beach where you can swim, rent a boat, kayak or just hang out on the shore and take in the cozy surroundings. Right next to Norrsken Lodge there is also an outdoor swimming pool with a cool waterslide.
The scenic area also offers perfect snowmobile conditions, which in turn gives you as a guest the chance to experience the Lapland landscape at its best. Here you can snowmobile over frozen lakes and mountains, meet the Siberian dogs who, together with you and a driver, form a perfect dog sledding team. Feed reindeer at the reindeer farm and drink coffee by a fire in the middle of the wilderness. Norrsken Lodge offers several different adventure packages with guides who speak several different languages.
The opportunity to experience the Northern Lights is perhaps the most central thing about this place and also the reason why people flock here from all over the world. Here you have a front row seat to witness this incredible natural phenomenon that has named the resort.
The summer months also offer exciting opportunities. Norrsken Lodge offers packages ranging from bike tours, moose parks, mushroom and berry picking. Despite the stunning surroundings, Norrsken Lodge is only 500 metres from Övertorneå town centre where you will find both local shops and grocery stores. One of the experiences includes the chance to ride along Sweden's longest drainage railway. An opportunity that takes you right into the wilderness, past lakes, over bridges and open fields where both reindeer and other animals live freely. The trampoline you ride on is easy to use and therefore suitable for the whole family. There's even a bench for those who don't pedal. Don't miss this unique opportunity.
